Walking With Dinosaurs Arena Spectacular: Great Family Fun | @DinosLive #DinosLiveOC #review

We all know that dinosaurs have been extinct for millions of years.  Last week, I was invited to a show that made me question whether that is true.

Walking With Dinosaurs is so realistic that you walk into the arena expecting a show where in fact it feels like you walked through a time machine.  The variety of dinosaurs showcased allowed us to get to know them as if they could walk right down the street.

The host, a paleontologist, walks us through the eras that ultimately led to their final demise.
One of the most important facts that we learned was that we are always learning new things about dinosaurs every day.  Did you know that we believe that dinosaurs are wonderful parents?  They are believed to be very protective of their young which helped keep their species going for millions of years.

Herds, packs and family groups were especially important in survival but unfortunately, the predators take the weakest using natural selection making the herd ultimately stronger.

While the Pterosaurs were the kings of the air, they were preyed upon by predators as soon as they landed.  Utah Raptors would take advantage of a Pterosaur taking a rest.

The Brachiosaurus, the largest dinosaur known to man, towered over the audience surrounded by the spectacularly colored foliage upon which they fed.

The T-rex would even take on the armored Ankylosaurus to protect its young.

Did you know that paleontologists become excited when the find dino-poop?  Dino poop gives them so many clues as to what the dinosaurs ate about their lifestyles.

I was lucky enough to see them up close and personal the day after the show and boy was I impressed!  We had a chance to talk with some of the artists that control the Utah Raptors and it is amazing that they don't bump into everything.

The costumes of some of the smaller dinosaurs are controlled by people within a 100+ pound suit with views on the side with very limited frontal views.  It took the artists years to perfect the motions that make the audience wonder if they are in fact real.
