STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE: Convention Highlights, News and Amazing Art! | @BerryBestBits @AmGreetings #BerryBestFriends #SSC #ad

Ohio, Cleveland, 2014, American Greetings

Do you collect a favorite doll or collectible?  Maybe you have a side business selling toys of years past?  I was lucky recently to attend a convention that helped me revisit my childhood and learn great tips on how to make extra money sharing what I love.

You have heard of comic book conventions but one you may not have heard of is the Strawberry Shortcake Convention.  This is a great group of people that get together to share their passion about everything Strawberry Shortcake.

This year I was invited into Strawberry Shortcake's world and learn about the history behind Strawberry Shortcake and her friends in Cleveland, OH, the birthplace of Strawberry Shortcake.  The convention was held at the American Greeting's Company which hosts the amazing artists that create such favorites as; Care Bears, Holly Hobby and of course Strawberry Shortcake!

Strawberry Shortcake has been going strong since 1977 as her original creator was an American Greeting illustrator.  Decades later, children are still enjoying Strawberry and her 32 character friends in the dolls, cartoons, movies, toys, and almost everything you could think of!

The Convention started at the amazing American Greetings building where we were greeted by Strawberry Shortcake.  Did you know that Taylor Swift has her own line of greeting cards and e-cards?  She has her own parking spot when she comes to visit.  So Cool!

We toured the many area's of American Greetings where we had the chance to see the creativity that goes into the largest greeting card company.  The artists were given trending topics that would be the following years creations and were given the chance to use their own particular styles to shoot ideas to the teams.

They are also given the chance to showcase their own creations in monthly shows where others can purchase favorites.

We were introduced to the current head artist of Strawberry and received a few sneak peaks at next years cards and they are awesome!  Be sure to check out the Just Wink line of cards at Target!  It has the perfect adult humor cards you are looking for!

We enjoyed a talk and showing of the latest Strawberry Shortcake show and had a great raffle drawing that was provided by American Greetings(AG) and the convention.  Check out the great singing doll I won for my daughter?  All attendees won prizes!

Before we left for the day, we shopped the latest AG cards and merchandise at the AG store in the middle of the warehouse.  The whole company was creative friendly and everywhere we turned there inspirations for all who viewed them.

As we arrived back at the hotel, we had the chance to purchase many of the convention goers, collections.  Remember the Strawberry sheets?  Dolls that smelled so sweet?  Lunchboxes?  It was like a walk through memory lane.  How many did you have?

The second day was filled with great ways to improve your collections and catalog them for sale.  I learned a great way to showcase dolls!

The creative hands of the convention goers were showcased in contests for the most creative, stylish, costumes and wonderful artwork!  It was wonderful to see people showcasing their passion and it was easy to get excited with them.

We had a chance to help a great charity, Alex's Lemonade(fighting childhood cancer) and win fun prizes.  There were home-made goods, classic Strawberry Shortcake items and these wonderful baskets filled with goodies from American Greetings!

I was reminded that crafts aren't just for kids anymore. While there were coloring pages and bracelet making for the kids, the adults were encouraged to turn a simple Strawberry t-shirt into a cute carry all. It was a simple and no-sew craft that we all enjoyed.

Before long, it was time to say goodbye to our new friends and head home with fond memories of times past.  After seeing all the hard work that goes into Strawberry Shortcake, sharing her with my children means more than ever.

My daughter was crazy for all the swag and raffle prizes that I brought home.  She hasn't removed her apron and hat, even for bed!  I love passing along my love for Strawberry Shortcake to my own children since I get to relive my childhood through her.
