Spring Rail Fest Returns to Inland Empire

You're invited to a family celebration of Southern California's railway heritage on Saturday, May 17 and Sunday, May 18 at the Orange Empire Railway Museum in Perris. The annual Spring Rail Festival will offer families and rail enthusiasts plenty to do and see at the 90-acre railway park in the heart of Southern California.

Ride trolleys all day and a steam train. Get behind the throttle of a railroad locomotive under an instructor's supervision. Enjoy live bluegrass music, food vendors, special train exhibits and a paint along for kids. There's also a model railway, run by enthusiasts.

The Spring Rail Festival runs from 9 a.m to 5 p.m. at Orange Empire Railway Museum, 2201 South A Street, Perris. Train rides start Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m. and continue until 4 p.m. Ticket prices: Ages 12 and up, $15; ages 5 to 11, $10; and ages 4 and under are free. Operating a real locomotive is $20 extra. Admission is free to Orange Empire Railway Museum members. Phone (951) 943-3020 or go online at www.oerm.org
