"Super-Lice": Our New Nemesis at School! | @CozyCutsforKids #Natural #Prevention

I don't know about you but it seems like every week I get a note in my children's backpacks warning that they were exposed to some horrible ailment!  My children have been exposed to RSV, MRSA, Chickenpox, pink eye, and most recently, lice.

I distinctly remember as a child being doused in foul smelling chemicals and having to sit for what seemed like hours to get rid of nits in my long hair.  NOT a process I would wish on anyone.

It has been brought to my attention that there is a new strain of lice called "super lice".  It is more resistant to all of the tried and true lice chemicals!  What do we use on our delicate children?  Stronger chemicals?  I am not thrilled with that prospect.

Cozy Friedman, a mom of two and founder of Cozy's Cuts for Kids salons in New York City, recommends using preventative measures to scare away lice attacks, all summer long.

Things you can do to prevent lice from occurring:

  • Educate your children about how they can get it
    • Don't share brushes or combs
    • Use their own pillowcases
Since children will do what they feel impulses them to do, you might want to try a new product I was made aware of, an anti-lice shampoo and conditioner.  A good example of the shampoo and conditioner is a product called Cozy's So Cozy BOO! At $14.50 each, it seems like a good preventative for the headache that comes with lice.  I was given a set of the products to try and keep away the creepy crawlies and I really hope it keeps them at bay.

I like this product because it uses all natural ingredients such as pure tea tree, rosemary and lavender oils which keeps the bugs away.  It is safe and gentle enough for daily use and doesn't include those foul smelling chemicals that I still remember 30 years later.

The Boo! Shampoo also uses aloe, and panthenol to soothe the scalp and add body and shine!  You use it like any shampoo with a low lather but leave it on for about 5 minutes for maximum results and then rinse.

The Boo! Leave-In Conditioner: This lightweight, multi-functional detangling spray keeps lice on the run with repellent ingredients including tea tree, rosemary and lavender oils. Ultra-healthy aloe, calendula, and wheat protein soothe the scalp, strengthen hair and prevent damage from blow-drying. To use, lightly mist over the hair and scalp and brush or comb through. Ideal for use following Boo! Shampoo, the formula can also be applied to dry hair while playing outdoors or anytime you want to strengthen up the lice defense.

Maybe we can avoid giving our children the same horrible memories of chemicals and itchy heads by preventing lice that they seem to be exposed to on a daily basis.

DISCLAIMER:  I received a set of the products to try out for my own to facilitate this promotion.  All thoughts and ideas are my own.
