Our Trip to the @OCFair! #ComeHungry! #COSTAMESA

A couple of weeks ago, my family and I were invited to indulge at the OC Fair.  The last time we had attended, my kids were in diapers!

We went during the week on a Thursday and there were short lines and plenty of food!

One thing that you always hear about at the fair is the food!  Fried everything!  If you can imagine it, they have deep fried it!

Last week I received an invitation to attend the opening night at Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Circus's, Built to Amaze, at the Honda Center!  We had a blast!

I was lucky enough to receive a copy of the set to review.

Besides the great show, the DVD's also teach the kids about how the Vikings(not Minnesota) really lived!  Here are a few facts you can help them learn while they enjoy the show.

Joshua Tree National Park- Great for Watching Meteor Showers! #Hiking #Camping

A couple years ago, I had the pleasure of taking my family to Joshua Tree National Park

What a beautiful place!

We arrived the peak day to watch the Perseid Meteor shower and it was HOT!  The Perseids always arrive mid August, so you can guarantee that in the desert, it was warm to say the least.

Blue Whale Season Is HERE! Let's Go! #HarborBreezeC #GIVEAWAY

I had SO much fun seeing my first 3 Blue Whales last week and the excitement of possibly seeing a Great White Shark, I have to do a Giveaway don't I?

Who would have thought that just 300 feet off Palos Verdes, a whale watching boat would see a large Great White Shark feeding on a Sea Lion?

Look to the Skies this August! It's Raining Meteors! #Perseid #Meteor #Shower

August doesn't just mark the end of another summer in our house.  It also marks a fun camping trip to see the sky light up with "falling stars".

Every August, the 11/12th this year, the comet, "Swift-Tuttle" moves through the constellation Perseus in the North-West sky.  The space trash that comes from the comet falls into our atmosphere burning up causing the Perseid Meteor Showers.

This last week I was invited to check out Daphne's CA Greek Cafe in Costa Mesa, to sample their new summer menu.

I love Greek food and jumped at the chance. Though, I had my daughter with me and honestly I was a little nervous about wether she would like it or not.

Meteor Cycle Co. Disneyland Legend Honored @Disneyland #BobGurr #History

You may in your travels through Disneyland come across an old bicycle above the streets of Mainstreet.  Did you ever wonder what it meant?  Each second window on Mainstreet USA is dedicated to different Disney Legends.

The bicycle is dedicated to retired Imagineer, Robert (Bob) Henry Gurr.  He enjoyed tools and working with his hands from a young age.  He started designing almost anything that ran on wheels at Disneyland in 1954.

"If it moves on wheels at Disneyland, I probably designed it", he once said.

A Day for Special Needs Kids! #CatalinaSkiRace #LONGBEACH

You may have heard of the Catalina Ski Race. It is an awesome event of water-skiers that ski all the way from Long Beach to Catalina and back in under an hour! This year, it starts at 8:53AM on Saturday, July 20th.

Did you know that the day before the race is dedicated to children with special needs? The 19th Annual Special Needs Children’s Day At Marine Stadium is held in Long Beach. Volunteers work hard to give special needs children a day on and around the water, a day to remember.

Starting at 9:00 am, Friday July 19th, children with different abilities and their families, get a chance to be normal kids while enjoying boating, tubing, and other aquatic activities all helped by volunteers.

Food will be provided to the children and small goodies will be given to remember the day.

Ending at 3:00pm, the children and their families leave with smiles and memories. The volunteers smiles are just as big and all they could ask for!

If you would like to help put a smile on a child's face this Friday, please contact Skip Larson at (805)-377-4653 or (562)-943-5268 or Krista Karr at (562)-697-6730.

Did you know that my son struggles with Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder? It is difficult for him to focus on the simplest of tasks that we all take for granted. The simplest deviation of his schedule creates havoc in his young world.

His first year of elementary school was especially difficult for him. Despite our protests, we were talked into administering medications to him to alter his anxiety and behaviors. This was a horrible mistake as his personality changed for the worse. After the school year ended, we swore he would not be put through the same struggles of medications again.

I am so happy that there are events such as this to let him be the child that is himself, not a child that is expected to fit in with society!

Kids Love Treasure! Let Them Find It! #Metal #Detecting #Beach

If your children are anything like mine, they love playing dress up.  With shows like Jake and the Neverland Pirates to influence them, we usually have little pirates running around our house.

Have you ever thought of encouraging piracy?  Okay, well not exactly piracy but helping them find treasure?

How I Won Tickets to @MedievalTimes! @MedievalTimesCA #BUENAPARK #GIVEAWAY

My family loves all things outdoors!  You might have guessed. One thing you might not know is that I have been horse back riding since I was 5! The number of years that has been, I would rather not think about. :-)

My children have been eager to be around all things horses since they were little/er.  They got their first chance to see a jousting bout with knights and swords with all things horses at the Renaissance Faire a couple months ago. Since then, my daughter and son have dressed up as knight, dragons and princesses nearly every day.

Bolsa Chica Wetlands! A Great Nature Hike! #Hike, #Children, #Nature

Our hike through the Bolsa Chica Wetlands was SO much fun! We went to the wetlands for a new hiking area.

We had driven by it so many times while going to Huntington Beach and Bolsa Chica beaches.  One time while driving by, we spotted dolphins swimming in the brackish(fresh and salty) water!

FOOD FIGHT!!! Join the Annual Tomato Battle! 7/13 #FoodFight #Beer

How Fun does this sound???!!!

Imagine a food fight for 5000 people!!! Beer Garden Too!

"The Tomato Battle unifies as many as 5,000 fruit-chucking fanatics for an afternoon of dancing to music, sipping libations, and flinging 300,000 pounds of Roma tomatoes at one another.  Mosh in a ketchup-covered fray that marries the traditions of Spain's La Tomatina tomato-throwing festival and Germany's Oktoberfest.  Festivities commence at noon with registration and opening, followed by live entertainment and a costume contest.  At 4:00p.m., soldiers donning bathing suits, safety goggles, and well treaded shoes converge on piles of past ripe tomatoes and set about pelting people with fruits like sentient apple trees avenging the initial-carving of amorous teenagers.  Beats and beer flow until past 7p.m. when ruddy troops lay down their arms and rinse their selves clean of pulp and juice.  An extra set of clothes is highly recommended.

Looking For A Park to Cool Off Your Little Ones? #Lakewood #Pools #Wading

As a parent of 2 young children, I am constantly trying to find places to keep them entertained! As the summer months get hotter, we tend to head to the beach, a lot!

As we all know, the beach can be a huge chore with the boogie boards, sand toys, sand, towels, etc. We feel like we are going on a week long vacation when in reality, we are just going to the beach for a couple hours!

I found a temporary solution.  I have found a few parks in Lakewood that have 18 inch deep wading pools during the summer months! They are great for even the littlest ones to splash and have fun with out the hassle.

Hi Ho Silver, Away! Childhood Memories! #LoneRanger #review #ad

Hi Ho Silver, Away!

I don't know about you but I hear someone say that and instantly I picture the Lone Ranger from my childhood on top of his loyal white horse rearing up to the sky.  Many a nights, I would dream of the Lone Ranger and Tonto.

When I heard that Disney was remaking my childhood memories, I was kind of nervous that they would ruin it!
